Enrichment Activities
Why Dog Enrichment
Is Important
Enrichment is the process of providing your dog with additional stimuli and challenges so their brains can continue to grow and develop. This can come in many forms: puzzles, toys, games, training opportunities, or socialization with other dogs (or humans).
Enrichment is important for all dogs—from puppies who are still learning about the world around them to senior dogs who may be experiencing cognitive decline or dementia. It’s also important for overweight dogs who may have difficulty getting enough exercise on their own.
BENEFITS OF ENRICHMENT:
- increase confidence
- improved concentration
- reduced boredom-related behavior problems
- increased intelligence and problem solving skills
- protection against cognitive decline and demands in senior dogs
- weigh loss in heavier dogs
- building social skills for puppies
